Morton's neuroma

Morton neuroma, or Morton's neuroma, refers to the entrapment of a nerve between two metatarsal bones. This entrapment of the nerve can cause burning, shooting, or stinging pains, tingling, pain in the toes, numbness, and swelling.

Causes for Morton's Neuroma are:
- Bad way of walking
- Shoes that are too tight
- Excessive wearing of high heels
- Overburdening

Treatment:
Treating Morton's neuroma can include the need for shoe inserts, an orthesis, advice on proper shoe-wear and/or taping. This will diminuish pain and restore the nerve.

Capsulitis

This is an infLammation of a joint capsule in the arch of the foot. This leads to shooting or nagging pain.
Causes of capsulitis are:

- Wrong way of walking
- Wrong foot-wear
- Overburdening of the feet
- The dissapearing of
- Obesity

Treatment:
When treating capsulitis, one usually turns to correction soles or felt pad therapy in order to relieve the arch of the foot, which gives the joint capsule a chance to recover.

Heel spur and plantar fasciitis

Heel spur, or calcaneal spur, is a small bone spur on the heel bone which only rarely leads to any pain or complaints.

Plantar fasciitis refers to an inflammation in a tendon in the heel and bottom of the foot. It leads to pain that is usually most felt in the morning, after a period of rest, or after overburderning of the feet.

Causes for heel problems are:
-Overusage
- Short calf muscles
- Obesity

Treatment can include taping, special shoe inserts, advice on proper usage/burdening of the feet, stretching excercises and advice on proper foot-wear. All this is aimed at relieving your feet from pain and stress, and eventually at healing the inflammated tendon.

Ingrown toenail

Ingrown toenails (unguis incarnatus) usually occur on the big toe, making the nail grow into the skin which causes irritation, pain, and infection.
Causes for ingrown toenail are:

- Bad cutting of the nail
- Badly fitting shoes
- Abnormal shape of the nail
- Excessive transpiration
- Trauma or accident
- Deviation in the foot's position

Treatment:
Treatment can include placing a nail brace, removing a part of the nail, replacing the missing part of the nail by another material or by a foot treatment. This will restore the natural shape of the nail.

Hallux abducto valgus

In the case of hallux abducto valgus (bunion), the big toe grows towards the other toes rather than parallel to them. This can have problematic consequences for the rest of the foot – for example, the appearance of a permanent bump near the big toe, and pressure from your shoes on this bump can subsequently lead to bursitis. Because the big toe is pushing away the other toes, it can create corn and malformations. Because of the wrong position of the big toe, callouses and pain in the arches of your feet.

Any of the following can be a cause for hallux abducto valgus.

  •  wrong shoes (too small and/or too tight)
  •  incorrect functioning of the foot
  •  heredatariness
  •  reumathoid arthrisis
  •  a trauma or accident

For your treatment we might opt to use ortheses, shoe inserts, felt pad therapy, foot treatments and advice on proper footwear. Everything will be done to avoid pressure points on the foot, to stabilise your foot's condition, and to relieve pain.
