Ingrown toenail

Ingrown toenails (unguis incarnatus) usually occur on the big toe, making the nail grow into the skin which causes irritation, pain, and infection.
Causes for ingrown toenail are:

- Bad cutting of the nail
- Badly fitting shoes
- Abnormal shape of the nail
- Excessive transpiration
- Trauma or accident
- Deviation in the foot's position

Treatment:
Treatment can include placing a nail brace, removing a part of the nail, replacing the missing part of the nail by another material or by a foot treatment. This will restore the natural shape of the nail.
