Heel spur and plantar fasciitis

Heel spur, or calcaneal spur, is a small bone spur on the heel bone which only rarely leads to any pain or complaints.

Plantar fasciitis refers to an inflammation in a tendon in the heel and bottom of the foot. It leads to pain that is usually most felt in the morning, after a period of rest, or after overburderning of the feet.

Causes for heel problems are:
-Overusage
- Short calf muscles
- Obesity

Treatment can include taping, special shoe inserts, advice on proper usage/burdening of the feet, stretching excercises and advice on proper foot-wear. All this is aimed at relieving your feet from pain and stress, and eventually at healing the inflammated tendon.
